Deadline is March 5, 2004.

The HIS Network staff is in the process of notifying VPN users of upgrades needed for VPN Clients. It is necessary to upgrade all VPN Client software and configuration files (pcf file) to the newest version. HIS would like to leverage the advanced technology and features available with latest version of software. However, this will not be possible until we have upgraded all VPN users to the same software version.

Our initial goal will be to upgrade all users that have the "old" client, software versions that are 3.5.x. To assist the VPN users in this process, HIS will take the burden of notifying each "old" client user that they need to upgrade their VPN software. You can expect notification via 1.) E-mail 2.) A banner page upon VPN connection (Similar to the one that pops up once you are connected and you have to click "continue") and 3.) an announcement of the VCUHS Intranet. This will be a required upgrade and VPN users will have a deadline date to perform the VPN software upgrade. It is always our goal to provide you with consistent and secure access to the VCUHS network. Any VPN user who does not upgrade their VPN software by the deadline date accepts the risk of losing VPN connectivity. Additional information and help can be obtained by any of the following methods:

    • Email

Will I have the same level of access after I upgrade as I have now?

Will all of my Internet applications work after I upgrade?
VCUHS HIS department is constantly reviewing the security policy, and enforcing policies that provide security for the end client as well as protecting the integrity of the VCUHS Network.  While you have established a VPN connection to VCUHS Network, you will have access to all VCUHS resources that you are restricted to, and all supported Internet applications outside of the encryption domain (outbound, http, https, pop3, IMap, AIM 5.2).  If you have a business requirement for application that is not listed, submit request to VCUHS HIS Helpdesk and your request will be reviewed.
