This typically is information covered in levels I and II. We've broken it into 3 hour segments to utilize the shuttle bus and to avoid mental overload. In this class, participants will participate in class exercises but also should be prepared for an outside project to work on. You will work on the project at the same pace as the class exercises which will  help reinforce the learning process. Remember, labs are also available so if any student starts feeling uncomfortable, they are more than welcome to come in for extra assistance during these scheduled lab times.

Please note: This will be an ongoing class and more classes will be added after this pilot.

What is Access?

Microsoft Access is a powerful tool that you can use to create relational databases. Access can help you organize your data  to make it easier to enter, edit and retrieve the information you want. A database is a collection of information pertaining to a specific topic. For example, your Rolodex is a database that contains information about people you know. A relational database is a management system that lets you create and link small databases so that you can view the initial information and other related information. Consider the Rolodex example: a relational database would contain the information in your Rolodex, as well as the information in your invoices. You could view a name from the Rolodex and see the invoices that it relates to all at the same time. Using Microsoft Access, you can create powerful relational databases to keep track of everything from inventory to sales and more.
